His Blue Sky

“His Blue Sky” is a one-act play that consist of two scenes. This piece was written in 2017 while taking a playwriting workshop. ThThe prompt issued was to assign one character a tangible want, and the other an intangible want. Such a broad topic, I know, but it gave me so much freedom. I decided to play with the oxymoron of a good-natured thief. Modern day Robin Hood, but with a twist. My intrigued mind automatically festered on kidnapping.

Due to my experience with the educational system, I have encountered many stories of biological parents who are not allowed contact with their children during school hours. They shouldn’t be called for emergencies, pick-ups, or daily reports, due to legal or personal grounds. In a perfect world, the school would have record of this information and faculty would enforce it. Unfortunately, human errors are made. Many assume that previously incarcerated individuals should be subject to ridicule and disrespect. However, a daughter’s love for her father knows no bounds.
