Since embarking on her journey as a freelance creative in 2021, Chereese has contributed her expertise to BET as a Lifestyle Freelance Writer and supporting fellow writers as a Script Analyst and Copyeditor. Currently, she serves as an Activation Lead at Happily, a renowned creative agency specializing in on-site, virtual, and hybrid experiences. Simultaneously, she is working on her first feature screenplay, showcasing her storytelling prowess.
Writing has always been an integral part of Chereese's life, nurturing her creative spirit from an early age. As a logophile, she developed a deep love for words, cultivated through engaging with Hooked on Phonics and spirited games of Scrabble. In middle school, her talent for writing flourished in the form of poetry. Her passion for storytelling led her to pursue a bachelor's degree in journalism with a minor in Creative Writing. During her time interning at the esteemed New York Amsterdam News, the oldest Black-owned newspaper in the country, Chereese's articles graced the publication's front page and garnered praise from readers, including the Reverend Al Sharpton. Also, her pieces can be found in other local New York publications. As she delved deeper into her craft, Chereese realized her true calling as a storyteller, relishing the creative liberties that come with feature writing.
Having obtained an M.F.A. in Writing and Producing for Television from LIU Brooklyn in 2020, Chereese excelled throughout her graduate studies. She crafted three compelling pilots, penned a spec script for the popular show "All American," and collaborated on the creation of two short films, where she not only co-wrote but also produced and took on Key Grip duties. Fueling her passion for content creation, Chereese wrote, produced, and directed the inaugural episode of her web series, "Influencer," drawing inspiration from her avid YouTube consumption.
Chereese has a proven ability to oversee all aspects of production, from concept development to post-production. She has collaborated with creative teams, managed budgets and timelines, and ensured the successful execution of projects. Throughout her career, Chereese has garnered extensive entertainment credentials, including work as a key production assistant, creative director, writer, producer, and director in various projects, such as music videos, web series, podcasts, and events.
Chereese has a unique ability to find art in unexpected places, appreciating the intricate details of nature and the beauty of sunsets caressing skylines. However, beyond her artistic pursuits, Chereese possesses an athletic background that complements her artistry. Surprisingly, she is also a retired athlete, having dedicated her youth to competitive volleyball. Starting at the age of six, Chereese's exceptional skills allowed her to travel the country, forge friendships with individuals from diverse cultures and races, and secure an athletic scholarship for college. Prior to the pandemic, she found joy in coaching volleyball for underprivileged teenage girls. As a former NCAA Division II athlete, Chereese thrives in fast-paced and high-intensity environments, excelling in collaborative settings while also possessing the ability to work independently to deliver results efficiently.
